Corroclad

Corroclad sheet laminate UV Cured GRP materials are manufactured in the UK for Zoom Corrosion Technology. Based on single component UV cured Isophthalic Polyester resins reinforced with chopped glass fibers and surfacing tissues. With their very low permeability properties, these materials are extensively used as a non metallic seamless cladding in the protection of all types of industrial insulation, mitigating problems associated with Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI), primarily in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

It is estimated that Corrosion costs the global economy over $2 trillion annually. Almost 45% of this cost occurs in the oil, gas and petrochemical industry. The benefits to insulating pipework, tanks and process equipment cannot be overstated. However, an unfortunate downside is that the underlying steel can severely corrode when it is in contact with water and oxygen and if the insulation is breached there is every likelihood that corrosion will occur. CUI once apparent becomes very difficult to initially stop during plant operation and is, therefore a major concern to facility maintenance engineers. In the main traditional steel cladding systems are restricted in their ability to prevent moisture penetration and can quite easily suffer mechanical damage.

Corroclad has therefore, been developed over many years, to be installed as a seamless non metallic cladding system, replacing the more traditional steel cladding. Developed to International standards such as CINI, with their low moisture and vapour permeability, excellent impact and chemical resistance make them an ideal choice to prevent CUI.
